The Special meeting was short and sweet
The Republicans voted against the budget, the Democrats voted for it and the Mayor broke the tie.
I guess we will find out this week when the OS comes out and there are letters from the Republicans on why they voted no. They didn't give an explanation when voting. I guess their campaigning this year will be how it's all the Democrats fault. Odd they are sitting up there also and I heard nothing about them being against anything in the budget but the small amount for garbage collection which was taken out.
If they were unhappy with the budget why not tell everyone at the Council meeting why they were unhappy. Guess that would defeat the purpose of voting no and using it as a campaign issue.
Bob Forsyth was officially named to replace Dennis Sears. The salary level is, I believe, $90,000/yr.

It appears that the Republicans were shut down when they wanted to use money from the Inter Funds...about $200K+ and some school account money about $300K+. . . so as not to raise property taxes. They(the Republicans supported using about $1.2M from the various Inter Funds to not have furloughs and layoffs. . .but wanted it balanced with giving town residents property tax relief. . .
