Do some research as to who was Reynolds lawyer when all the trouble was going on with the Dairy Queen. Take a good guess. If Reynolds starts to talk, and Alex backs it up, some of the Pt. Please, you do some talkin' and let us all in on the improprieties. Why wait for Reynolds? He might not even read this blog. If you know something, put it on here...don't pussy-foot around! Reply to this

Residents of Point Beach and Point Borough should be alarmed and on alert. Members of each Council are quickly and aggressively pushing to merge the building departments in both of our towns. While I believe that the concept of shared services is a great idea, it requires time and investigation, with employee and public input. A review by an auditor working for each town would be appropriate. Sadly none of these criteria appear to be a concern of the current planners. I know the background of our governing body, and except for Councilman Laurie, no elected official has successful business experience or have had any experience with shared services. I hope Councilwoman Rogers has a wealth of knowledge in building and zoning departments. In Point Beach, the Council has yet to present the contract that they signed for shared court services to the public. There has been no input from residents at Council meetings.
Now, the push is on to merge the Building and Zoning departments with equal speed and secrecy. Why the rush? Why isn’t there more disclosure and transparency? It certainly arouses suspicion. There is a special meeting on Thursday, August 12, at 3:00PM, in the Council Chambers of Point Pleasant Beach on merging Building and Zoning. It will include Sue Rogers, Jeff Dyer, Sean Hennessy, employees and union representatives from the effected departments. For some reason, no one remembered to invite the public. I think this is wrong and should be corrected. Perhaps we all need to show up and ask some needed questions before it‘s too late.
We need to remind our elected officials that they are supposed to listen and represent us instead of simply dictating their goals. Part of the current cost of these mergers is the loss of open and transparent government. Residents need to take charge and stand up for their rights before it’s too late and we find out that the “savings” aren’t what was promised. Reply to this
