Have you ever seen a police officer issue a ticket for speeding? Do you think they don't speed?
On Aug. 15, Michael Pego, 20, of Berkeley Heights, was arrested on Stockton Avenue by Special Officer Remig and charged with possession of amphetamines and alcohol underage.
Isn't the above a little hypocritical?

I'm writing about what is on the Republican candidate's page. Fair game. The Republicans want to use it and don't want any feedback? Oh well.
My blog comment was not referring to the fire today or the helmets that children on bikes do not wear. Reply to this

I agree with Publius on this one. Mitch was doing the job he is paid to do. I don't think it is hypocritical as that is his job. He wasn't busting kids for not wearing helmets as full-time Manasquan police officers are now doing. However, that, too is okay. Perhaps a better way to enforce the helmet law for juveniles would be to confiscate the unhelmeted child's bike and require the parents to come in and pick it up after purchasing a helmet for the child. I believe Point Beach police have done this in the past during the first couple of weeks of school at Antrim. By the way, Mitch was out there with the other firefighters in this town, Beach and Brick extinguishing the fire on Arnold Ave. Yes, he probably has a lot to learn as far as politics go, but he seems like a standup young man. If he is elected, he can hopefully rise above the nasty politics perpetuated by both political parties. Hopefully, he can be his own man and not beholden to either party. Time will tell. Noone is faulting Mr. Remig from doing as you say 'something he gets paid to do', he went to school and achieved the right to become a Class II, that town paid for him...How many bikes has he confiscated? or is the practice of enforcement selective. I'm sure Mitch didn't bring that fire down alone. It was a combined effort, from multiple jurisdictions. I betcha, he didnt even make the decision to call those agencies nor dispatch them out. My point, many people have become members of the same organizations, and many people volunteer their time while going to school to achieive what their endevors may be. Some people volunteer because they want help with sincere intentions, and then you have some that achieve just to gain notoriaty. Reply to this

Didn't mean to get off topic, but special officer is his job and he was doing it. I don't know that he is an underage drinker. What I meant is that him doing his job should not be seen as hypocritcal unless you know for certain that he is doing what many others his age are doing - underage drinking, illegal drug use. I also don't know that he got involved with the volunteer organizations just to gain notoriety. He has been involved for several years - he didn't just sign up on a whim before the election. I don't mean to sound like I am defending him but attacking him for doing his job doesn't seem right. Should he avoid arresting people who appear to be the same age as he is if they are violating the law? Now that to me would be hypocritical. Reply to this
